$250 Procedure Fee (procedure only)
Performed by experienced Nurse Practitioners at our Toronto clinics. Does not include pre-procedure consultation or pain medication prescribing. Lab analysis is covered by OHIP with a valid health card.
What is an Endometrial Biopsy?
A quick, minimally invasive diagnostic procedure
An endometrial biopsy collects a small tissue sample from the lining of your uterus (the endometrium) and sends it to a lab for analysis. It helps your provider diagnose conditions affecting the uterus.
Common Reasons for Endometrial Biopsy
- Abnormal uterine bleeding (heavy periods, bleeding between periods, postmenopausal bleeding)
- Thickened endometrial lining found on ultrasound
- Endometrial cancer screening in high-risk patients
- Investigation of infertility causes
Before Your Biopsy
Most patients need pain medication prescribed before the procedure. This requires a separate consult so your NP can assess you, review your history, and prescribe appropriately.
If you have prior workup, ultrasound results, or relevant labs, email them to helpdesk@careand.ca before your appointment so your NP can review in advance.

Pain Management Options
We want you to feel as comfortable as possible
This procedure is for patients who have been directed by their provider to book. If you have not yet discussed pain management options with your referring provider or primary NP, please book a New Health Concern appointment first.
Cervical numbing is available and included in your procedure fee. Prescription pain medication can be prescribed beforehand. You would fill it at your pharmacy before your appointment. We can go over all options with you before the procedure in a new health concern appointment.
Good to know: Most patients say it feels like moderate period cramps. The procedure is quick, and pain management options are there to keep you comfortable.
