The $250 covers the IUD insertion procedure itself. It does not include the consult to prescribe the IUD if you don't already have one.
You'll need to have your IUD prescribed and filled at a pharmacy before your appointment. Care& does not stock IUDs. Bring it with you on the day.
Before Your Insertion
If you don't have an IUD prescription yet, you'll need a consult first. Your NP will discuss your options, review your history, and prescribe the right IUD and pain management option for you.
If you already have your IUD and pain prescription in hand, you can book the procedure directly.
How to Access an IUD Insertion at Care&
Option 1: Care& Family Practice Members (Best Value)
Family Practice membership ($450/year + HST) includes unlimited consults and your IUD insertion is included in your membership. You pay nothing additional for the procedure.
Option 2: Pay-Per-Visit, IUD Prescription Needed
If you don't have an IUD prescribed yet, start with a consult.
- Book a $100 pay-per-visit appointment to discuss IUD options as well as pain management and get a prescription
- Fill the prescriptions at a pharmacy and bring the IUD and pain management to your appointment
- Book your insertion ($250 procedure fee)
Option 3: Pay-Per-Visit, IUD Already Prescribed
If you already have your IUD and pain management prescribed, you can book the procedure directly.

What to Expect
Here's how the process works
Pre-Insertion Consultation
We'll talk through your contraceptive goals and medical history, help you choose the right IUD, do STI testing if needed, and come up with a pain management plan.
The Insertion
The procedure takes about 60 minutes. Cervical numbing and inhaled pain relief (Penthrox) is available if prescribed. Most people go back to normal activities the next day.
Follow-Up
We'll see you for a follow-up to check the strings, make sure everything looks good, and address any concerns you have.
Pain Management Options
We want you to feel as comfortable as possible
We offer pain management options including cervical numbing, Penthrox inhaled pain relief, and prescription pain medication. We'll go over pain management options with you before the procedure.
The IUD device and Penthrox inhaled pain relief cost is separate. The device itself is $100-450.
