Training the Next Generation of Nurse Practitioners

As a Nurse Practitioner student, my placement at Care& Family Health was invaluable. The Nurse Practitioners at this clinic are knowledgeable in their provision of care and patient in their teaching. I was able to see a vast majority of cases, from acute care to well-baby visits to chronic disease management. Under the mentorship of the Nurse Practitioners at this clinic, I was able to practice and refine my primary care skills. I had the amazing opportunity of completing 250 hours of my Nurse Practitioner placement alongside this stellar group of practitioners. I encountered many different conditions found in all ages which improved my differential diagnosis ability. This placement heightened my critical thinking, challenged my diagnostic reasoning, and truly pushed me to grow into the NP role. The best part was the encouragement and support I received from everyone on the team - from the NPs to the administrative staff alike.
