Apretude is a long-acting injectable form of HIV prevention designed for individuals at risk of acquiring HIV-1. It offers protection through bi-monthly injections after an initial two-dose regimen. This means fewer doses per year - just six injections after the first month - making it an excellent alternative for those who prefer not to take daily pills.
Clinical studies show Apretude is:
• Up to 69% more effective than oral PrEP in men who have sex with men and transgender women.
• 89% more effective than oral PrEP in cisgender women.
Apretude works by reducing the risk of sexually transmitted HIV-1 infections through injections every two months. To start, patients receive two initial doses, spaced one month apart, followed by a maintenance dose every two months. Patients can also opt for an oral lead-in phase if desired, to assess tolerability before starting the injections.
Each dose must be administered by a healthcare professional at Care&, ensuring personalized care and follow-up with our team.

Yes, Apretude has shown to be more effective than daily oral PrEP in preventing HIV transmission.
While Apretude reduces the risk of HIV, it does not protect against other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). We recommend using condoms alongside Apretude for comprehensive sexual health protection.
Apretude offers a 7-day grace period for missed injections. If you miss a dose beyond this period, an alternative oral PrEP may be prescribed until you resume injections.
